It's been far too long since I last wrote! I've been meaning to write an update since getting back from Download but I've been so busy that this is the first chance I've had.

So to begin, and keep with tradition, the list of bands I saw at DL:-
Caimbo, Disturbed, Motorhead, JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST!!!, Kiss, 36 Crazyfists, Biffy Clyro, Bullet For My Valentine, Incubus, The Offspring, Bleeding Through, Apocalyptica, Within Temptation, In Flames (I think - i was sobering up around this point), Coheed and Cambria, Jonathan Davis, Children of Bodom.

Not a bad year! This has been one of my favourite Downloads. I missed the Preston crew, but falling for the irish charm of Camp Yarr-land made up for that - definitely the best year I've had at the campsite.

So...Download was almost a month ago now. What have I been doing since?
In a word...WORK. Working at Gala, working on dissertation - work, work, work! I've examined all my skeletons, put all the data on the computer and today finished doing the statistical analysis. Now I just have to figure out what it all means. Everything is ticking along nicely though.

I've been listening to One Beat in the lab today and I really, really like it. Of all S-K's albums this is the one that is always second choice for me as I'd rather listen to Dig Me Out or The Hot Rock and then any of the others, so today opened my eyes (or ears) to the penultimate offering.
The lab stuff went pretty well today too - Tina agreed that the unsexed individual was a male and the other unsexed one turned out to have no vertebrae or legs so I'm going to exclude it from the results - that gets rid of any initial problems with analysis categories. Yee haw!

This week has been absolutely immense. When I finish my cafe shift tomorrow I'll have worked 41 hours (split between invigilating and gala) as well as doing several hours worth of uni work - no wonder I'm knackered! At least this might sort out the cash situation, and I can finally get a ticket for Download. Hopefully though I will be able to do more (much needed) lab work next week as I have fewer exams and weekend shifts at work.
Right now I'm off to do washing and catch up on eating for what seems like the first time in ages!

I got a call from work this morning asking if I could go in tonight - nothing unusual there. However, they told me that Big C had specially requested me by name. This makes my blood run cold. Have I done something wrong? Maybe they think I'm taking money from the till and are trying to catch me out?
Well at least this will give me a chance to sort out my time sheets.

Today Jeremy and I walked around the back of college to watch an escaped sheep eat grass. It was a lot more exciting than it sounds, I promise.
It was so cold this morning that the trees had frozen white and all the chinese students were taking pictures - it was very pretty, but fucking cold! Anyway, from now on its going to be a good couple of days. I'm watching the exorcist tonight, then going to the bar for election results and then York tomorrow - lovely!

I got a camera at the beginning of the week! It's big (but not too big) and pretty and I plan to wander around the botanic gardens in an artistic fashion very, very soon.
I heard a song on the radio this morning called "Mercy" and it sounded so much like "Chain of Fools" - is it only me who notices these things?

The internet in my room can only get one website (Durham University's) so I'm in the computer room at college. I needed to get out of the flat as I've been in bed all day with a horrific hangover. It was worth it though - last night was the best time I've had in ages and we won big on Deal or No Deal (£10!!) so worthy celebrations were required. No other news really. I've been cooking the books the past couple of weeks to make a good start to the term so I've not been having too much excitement - well, academic thrills of course.

Anxiety [07 Jan 2008|05:03pm]
[ mood | anxious ]

I bought tickets for Coheed and Cambria yesterday but I haven't been sent a confirmation e-mail. Argh! I hate buying things from the internet! Maybe the Newcastle Academy website don't send e-mails? Maybe I ticked the "don't send me any information" box? Maybe I'm doomed! It was late at night and I'd had a few drinks and can't remember if I actually did get them. Oh goodness, that sounds terrible - I wasn't pissed, I was tired, I want to make that clear.

More upcoming gigs: My Ruin, The Breeders. And of course Download will be announced soon so thats lots to get tickets for.

Also I decided I would make a new year's resolution after all - I WILL stop rubbing my eyebrows! I've done it a little bit today, but I can't go cold turkey on it so thats okay. I'm going to try and play more guitar and knit more to keep my hands busy. And do work obviously.

Why are C.V's so difficult to write? Or is it just because I have done nothing remarkable that would make mine stand out? Well, at least mine is better than the "good examples" I've been looking at on t'internet. Oh no, four days into the new year and I'm already writing about work - this must stop!
I had a fabulous piece of cake in Vennels earlier today, oh - and the snow yesterday! I love the snow - we went sledging on bin bags (which worked surprisingly well), built a snow chair instead of a snowman (very comfy) and then came home for hot tea and soup. It was one of the nicest afternoons I've had in a while.

I'm having a lunch of leftover salad and couscous and then I'm heading off to Preston! And hopefully there will be dancing, because even good things get better with dancing. I've been having strange dreams recently and waking up in the night - I can't remember what they were about, they just make me feel strange and uncomfortable. Hopefully, this will not happen for the next couple of nights. I'm listening to Lou Reed now though and he always has a calming effect on me. Good ol' Lou.
Must remember to check the tyre pressure - very important. I was angry this morning after reading Tess of the d'Urbervilles last night. Last time I read it I must have been too young to feel righteously angry, but yesterday I got the full force. Angel is such a hypocrite with his ridiculous, archaic, patriarchal view of women - she was raped for crying out loud! Anyway, I'm not going to write an essay about it, I just needed to vent some spleen.
I don't know how this has turned into a rant - c'mon Lou! Mellow me out.

Someone must have the left the freezer door open today as my Ben and Jerry's has melted and re-frozen - I am outraged - it's never the same once it's defrosted! Also though I have some chicken and salmon in the freezer and if they defrost the latter will be stinky and the former may kill me. I'm more annoyed about the ice cream though - would it be wrong to drive to the supermarket just for ice cream? After I ate it anyway? When I have a test tomorrow to revise for? When it's raining fire and brimstone outside?

Moral ending? [10 Dec 2007|10:22am]
I read in a paper this morning that Anne Darwin was arrested by six armed police officers when she got off the plane. I don't know if this is true, but if it is I feel that the need to arm the police may have been a little over-dramatic. What did they expect her to do - shoot her way through customs and go underground in Hartlepool? I don't know why she came back to England in the first place, they can't extradite from Panama so all she needed to do was sit tight, wave two fingers for the cameras and let John take the fall. Hmm. Anyway, I got up early this morning so the cleaner wouldn't walk in again as I step out of the shower but she hasn't been round today!

I've not done one of these for ages [25 Nov 2007|05:30pm]
[ mood | bored ]

Your Score: Jean Arthur

You scored 26% grit, 33% wit, 33% flair, and 14% class!

You are a little bit of everything: smart, nutty, classy, and even a little scheming when you need to be. However, you aren't exactly the most effective dame around, as you're sometimes given to fainting and mumbling incoherently. But you're pretty steadfast and true, and might I add, cute as a button, even if you're not sure exactly what you want. Still, you end up with the likes of Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant...not too shabby!

Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test.

I would just like to point out that I am NOT on any online dating website, I just found this when I was faffing around.

Poorly [14 Nov 2007|10:35pm]
[ mood | sick ]

I'm up and feeling restless as I've been asleep most of today after spending most of last night becoming intimately acquainted with the inside of the toilet and my bathroom floor. I'd only gone and got food poisoning! Damned, deceptive chicken, looking all edible!
I must've looked bad for it as well as when the cleaner came in today she kept trying to get me to call a doctor out. I can't remember a time in my adult life (or late teenage for that matter) when I have been sick (not counting alcohol related sickness of course) and it's fucking horrible. Worse still there was no Mum around to make me soup and french bread and warm orange juice. I did ring her for advice though (drink plenty of warm water and go back to bed) and hopefully I will back to my usual self tomorrow.

Javascript [11 Nov 2007|10:06pm]
[ mood | tired ]

What the fuck is Javascript? Apparently I may have switched it off, which I find unlikely since I don't even know what it is, but that is what youtube keeps telling me. Also it seems to be involved in e-mail sending which is why people aren't receiving any words in my e-mails, only blank screens.
Anyway, I had a lovely time in York today - bought pretty clothes and pretty things from Lush and walked miles and miles (probably) in the freezing cold so now I am going to get a cup of tea,put on my bed socks and finish reading The Waves. I've been putting it off because it's the end and I know they are all going to die but it must be done! I've enjoyed this one immensely and I imagine that when death arrives it will be wonderfully poetic.
